Meet Melissa

I am a nutritionist and certified intuitive eating counselor, passionate about helping people heal their relationship with food and body image. As a woman in the Jewish community, I am familiar with the central role that food plays in our lives. Living with this reality, along with societal pressures to maintain a certain body type, makes it very hard to avoid diet culture.  My philosophy is one that helps people to reconnect with their bodies so that they can cultivate inner trust and feel at peace with themselves and with food. Together, we will work on deep behavior changes that will instill within you the confidence to navigate food that will last a lifetime.

Diets Don't Work

We are conditioned to live in constant conflict with both food and our bodies. Regardless of what we do, diet culture always seems to be there reminding us that we are not good enough. Many of us have experienced that feeling of "just one more diet", thinking that this will finally be the answer we are looking for when, truthfully, research shows that 95% of diets do not work long-term. We tend to blame ourselves, when research shows that we never really stood a chance to succeed. Diets are often lacking scientific basis, are not sustainable, and can lead to physical, mental, and emotional harm.

Intuitive eating is a holistic approach to health. By changing our approach to food from restrictive and scarce to free and abundant, we reclaim all power that food has over us.
